How do we get what we want in life?
The answer: hard work, dedication, and a commitment to placing our thoughts upon what we want (and removing them from what we do not want). The last piece is key to manifesting.
To create what we want, we must be willing to think about what we want. The more we put our energy, thoughts, and focus upon what we want, the more we will create and attract. We will be able to see evidence of things going right over wrong and use our energy for forward momentum.
While you might feel like you do this all the time, it is far more common for our brains to focus on problems, obstacles, and worries. The brain has evolved to sense danger or problems over good in our lives as a survival instinct. Pulling our thoughts and focus to the positive may be a challenge, as the ego wants to ensure that we are not disappointed (or endangered), but it is a worthy endeavor. The exercise of returning to thoughts about what you want and away from what you are troubled by is a powerful manifesting tool that gets easier over time.
Here are ways to manifest what you desire in life. It may be a partner, a new job, even peace and contentment.
- Get clear about what you want. Write it out.
- Control your thoughts. Make sure you actively direct them to what you desire and away from what you worry about or see as problems.
- Acknowledge you are co-creating what you want with the world, universe, and/or higher power. You are not alone in creating, you are working together with many forces.
- Take action steps toward your desired outcome. Make a plan for how you will achieve your goals.
- Visualize your desired state and think about what your future self in that new state would be thinking.
- Be thankful and mindful for what you receive that brings you closer to this desire.
- Let go of any resistance or limiting beliefs about what you want. Write them down, think about them critically and ask yourself if they are real barriers. Take each barrier or limiting belief and create an affirmation to shift to your focus forward and success.
- Check your energy. We get back what we put out into the world.
- Be flexible and trust the process. You may be redirected along your path, and it may not go exactly as you imagined, yet you will see progress.
- And lastly, BELIEVE in your ability to manifest.
In the words of Walt Disney, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” We can use this as a reminder that if we truly desire something, it must be coming from somewhere real and true. It is coming from our own inner guidance. If we commit in action, vision, and determination, we will manifest our dreams.
